Goff: Second confirmed COVID-19 related death reported in St. Joseph County

During the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday, Emergency Management Coordinator Erin Goff provided an update on COVID-19 statistics, and announced the county now has 90 confirmed cases and an additional confirmed death due to COVID-19.

Goff said while data from the state website does not yet reflect the second confirmed death within the county, data from Branch Hillsdale St. Joseph Community Health Agency (BHSJCHA), which she uses for her reports, indicated a second COVID-19 related death within the county has been confirmed.

“The state website cuts off at 10 a.m. The information I provided is from public health. Check out bhsj.org and click on Novel Coronavirus 2019 in Michigan. It has local data that gets updated every day at 4 p.m. I think their cutoff is later,” Goff told Watershed Voice.

During the meeting, Goff said total cases statewide stand at 52,350 with 5,017 deaths attributed to COVID-19. State data also puts daily confirmed cases at 435 and daily COVID-19 deaths at 102.
