Lockport Crash Results in Minor Injuries

Two women received minor injuries when a pickup truck struck their SUVs Thursday afternoon in Lockport Township. In a press release, St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark A. Lillywhite said deputies responded to a 2:20 p.m. report of the crash, which took place on Buckhorn Road near Arizona Boulevard.

A GMC pickup truck, operated by a 25-year-old Three Rivers man, was southbound on Buckhorn Road when a vehicle ahead of him began slowing for another vehicle that was preparing to turn. The pickup operator did not see the vehicles slowing in time and sideswiped a Jeep SUV before veering into the northbound lane and striking a Chevrolet SUV.

Lillywhite said two Three Rivers women, including the 36-year-old operator of the Jeep and the 52-year-old operator of the Chevrolet, received minor injuries. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment. All drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the accident. The pickup operator was cited for violations involved in the crash. The Three Rivers Fire Department and Brokers Towing provided assistance to deputies at the scene.
