Constantine man apprehended after high-speed pursuit

A 56-year-old Constantine man is currently lodged in St. Joseph County Jail for an outstanding warrant and other pending charges after leading police on a high-speed chase through Constantine Township Monday.

At approximately 5 p.m. Monday, April 12, deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop the driver of a Chevy pickup truck on Stears Road near US 131 for an outstanding felony warrant. The subject proceeded to flee deputies at a high rate of speed to the area of North River Road near Klett Road where he drove into a wooded area before striking a tree. The suspect then fled on foot but was later located by a Three Rivers Police K9.

Deputies were also assisted by the White Pigeon and Constantine Police Departments, and the Michigan State Police.
