Vehicle theft in Sturgis Twp., stolen catalytic converter in Mendon Twp. under investigation

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information regarding a stolen vehicle, and the theft of a catalytic converter, both taken over the weekend. 

A black 1997 Chevrolet Blazer was stolen from the 25000 block of US-12 in Sturgis Township between 6 p.m. on Friday, June 11 and 7 a.m. Saturday, June 12, according to authorities. The vehicle has a spare tire on the back hatch, and a Michigan registration plate of DWH9178. The SUV is still believed to be in the Sturgis area.

A catalytic converter was taken from a Jeep parked at the Portage Lake public access in the 52000 block of Silver St. in Mendon Township. The theft reportedly occurred between 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 and 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 13.
