City of Three Rivers hires consultant group to aid in police chief search

The City of Three Rivers has hired The CAUTION Group out of Southgate, Michigan to assist in its search for its next chief of police with Police Chief Tom Bringman set to retire in November.

The firm sent Watershed Voice the following press release Tuesday:

The CAUTION Group is pleased to announce its team will be working with the City of Three Rivers to conduct a search for its new Chief of Police.

The City of Three Rivers is seeking a dynamic, collaborative professional with proven law enforcement leadership and management experience to lead its police department and has enlisted the help of the Michigan-based consultants in the effort.

The consulting company will work with city Human Resources staff to gather and screen applicants and the candidates will then be presented to the city, which will lead to interviews with a panel comprised of members of the community. City Manager Joe Bippus will then receive critical feedback from the panelists, allowing him to make the official appointment, which is expected to take place in early December. Bippus said, “We certainly are excited for Chief Bringman on a well-earned retirement and thank him for his dedicated service to this profession.” Bippus stated that the new Chief will be charged with making sure the police department operates with the highest law enforcement standards and tailors the department’s resources to meet the needs of the community.

Interested persons are encouraged to visit the city jobs page at https://www.threeriversmi.org/jobs/ for more information on the qualifications and to complete an online application. The deadline for applications is October 15.

Current Chief Thomas Bringman is retiring in November after 47 years with the 17-member department and 14 years as police chief.
