Glen Oaks is new site for free weekly COVID-19 tests and vaccinations through Dec. 14

Glen Oaks Community College is the newest county site for free weekly COVID-19 tests and vaccinations for students, employees and the community beginning Tuesday, Oct. 19.

The weekly clinics, coordinated through a three-way partnership between the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency and Glen Oaks, will be held on Tuesdays between 9 a.m. and noon, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the college’s Dresser Business Development Auditorium, near the main campus entrance.

Currently, all people 12 and older are eligible to receive a vaccination. No appointment is necessary.

Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be offered. The Pfizer vaccine is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in persons aged 16 and older, and is authorized under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to prevent Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in persons aged 12 to 15. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines are authorized under an EUA for use in persons aged 18 and older.

Those meeting the requirements for the Pfizer booster shot may also receive one during the clinics. Booster doses are available for those individuals ages 65 and older and long-term care facility residents. It is also available for those ages 18 through 64 with underlying medical conditions, as well as those who are at increased risk of COVID-19 due to their occupation. All of the above must have received the Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago.
