Huss Project seeking summer volunteers

The Huss Project, located at 1008 8th St. in Three Rivers, is currently looking for volunteers to engage children (with their parents present) in activities on the farm during the Farmer’s Market each Saturday, June through September, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Volunteers can lead games, choose from prepared art and garden activities or bring their own ideas to share with families. Volunteers can sign up for one Saturday or many. It’s OK if volunteers can’t be there the entire time, any help is help enough. Dates that the Huss Project is looking to fill as soon as possible are June 4 (the first market), June 18, July 2, July 16, July 23, July 30, August 6, August 20, August 27 and September 3.

The Huss Project is also looking to build up its summer lunch program to be able to engage more with the children that come for free meals through Meet Up and Eat Up, Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning June 20, and going until school restarts in mid-August.  Ideally Huss would like to be able to offer playtime in the pavilion or children’s area on the farm and some games or activities (either garden related or not) each day in addition to socializing with the children as they eat their lunches. Huss is looking for organizations/volunteers who’d like to come connect with the children when they are onsite.

All activities are outdoors and volunteers commit to upholding Huss’ child safety policies. Please contact [email protected] or Megan Schopf [email protected]  for more information.
