First term St. Joseph County Commissioner Jared Hoffmaster, 38, sat down with Watershed Voice Wednesday (virtually, of course) to answer questions about his new role.

Matthew Mosher believes it is important for elected officials to be responsive and accountable to all of their constituents, no matter who those constituents are. At a campaign meet and greet event at Meyer Broadway County Park this past Sunday, Mosher discussed with Watershed Voice the measures he would take to bring about that responsiveness and accountability, as well as what, exactly, those things mean to him.
Matthew Mosher, a candidate for the First District seat on the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners, will hold a campaign event this Sunday near Three Rivers. The Candidate Meet and Greet event will take place in the morning at the Pavilion at Meyer Broadway County Park.
First District County Commission candidate Andrew George announced earlier this week that he has received the endorsement of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. George’s campaign received word of the endorsement by email from a gubernatorial staffer on Tuesday.
Watershed Voice sent out questionnaires to over 75 candidates running for elected positions in St. Joseph County and the surrounding area. In the days leading up to the Michigan Primary on August 4, Watershed will publish the questionnaires it received back as well as an election preview. Matthew Mosher, an independent candidate for First District county commissioner, filled out WSV’s questionnaire ahead of Tuesday’s primary.
The Branch Hillsdale St. Joseph Community Health Agency (BHSJCHA) released a report on July 2 providing detailed statistical pandemic information for St. Joseph County, available in a document on its webpage. Watershed Voice looked into the staffing changes, capacity issues, and public pressure that served as a backdrop for the information’s release.
