James W. Roberts, 54, was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Centreville in connection with making terrorist threats toward Three Rivers Middle School (TRMS). According to St. Joseph County Prosecutor David Marvin, Roberts called the FBI saying he planned to commit a mass shooting at Three Rivers Middle School.
At its executive meeting on Wednesday, April 14, the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 to add a request from 3B District Court for an exception to the hiring freeze to the agenda for its meeting Tuesday.

Despite reduced utilization of services and fewer funding dollars from some sources, St. Joseph County’s offender rehabilitation programs are adapting and continuing to serve. Community Corrections Director Rose Ludwick, District Court Judge Jeffrey C. Middleton, and others discussed current challenges and opportunities and approved changes at a Community Corrections Advisory Board (CCAB) meeting Wednesday.
In 3B District Court Tuesday, St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough pled guilty to a bond violation that took place on August 7. The violation was one of two for which McDonough was charged. The second charge is in relation to a violation that allegedly took place on September 15.
A series of charges will bind over from one court to another against two suspects in a Three Rivers home invasion case following the conclusion of a hearing Friday. Charges that bind over are those that may proceed to criminal trial because attorneys have shown they meet probable cause.
