Deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the Three Rivers Police Department responded to an armed robbery in Lockport Township early Friday morning. At approximately 2:19 a.m., according to a press release by Sheriff Mark A. Lillywhite.

At a County Executive Committee meeting Wednesday, Covered Bridge Healthcare Director Rick Shaffer requested a new arrangement for a recent land purchase. Shaffer proposed converting a three-year land contract for the agency’s building into an outright purchase, which would resolve zoning issues related to proposed expansion work.
A Michigan State Police (MSP) trooper attempted to pull over a gold-colored Saturn in Three Rivers Monday morning for an expired tag. During the attempted stop, the vehicle fled, but due to MSP policy, the trooper did not pursue him. Instead, the trooper found the vehicle abandoned shortly after with the door open on Railroad Drive behind downtown Three Rivers.
Two women were transported to the hospital for minor injuries when a pickup truck struck operated by a Three Rivers man their SUVs Thursday afternoon on Buckhorn Road in Lockport Township.
Two suspects in a Three Rivers home invasion, Amber Carpenter and Alexander Zuchnik, faced a preliminary examination hearing before 3B District Judge Robert Pattison on Tuesday afternoon. The hearing was held to provide preliminary witness testimony and determine what charges will proceed to a trial.

Additional thefts were reported over the weekend in southern St. Joseph County, including the theft of a 1989 Jeep Wrangler, which was stolen from a barn in White Pigeon Township early Saturday morning.
As a result of the investigation, over 140 cats ranging from newborn to adult cats were seized from the inside the home. It took officials several hours to capture the animals. Several of the cats appeared to have health issues and will be evaluated by animal control staff and other professionals. It was determined that two of cats needed to be euthanized immediately.

A suspect is in jail after a high-speed chase last Thursday that began in Indiana. The 34-year-old Constantine man was apprehended on U.S. Highway 12 in White Pigeon Township shortly before midnight on July 30.

Officers with the Three Rivers Police Department (TRPD) arrested three suspects in a home invasion Sunday after responding to a call and tracing them from the scene to a nearby house.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. Thursday, July 16, two suspects broke into several storage units. The incident occurred in the 59000 block of highway U.S.-131 in Fabius Township.
River Run Road resident Danny Madden is the recipient of the 2020 Citizen Life Saving Award for St. Joseph County. Madden responded after a neighbor was involved in a lawn mower accident on Memorial Day 2020, this past Monday, May 25.
