Mendon: Burglar makes himself at home, forgets to leave before police arrive

A 47-year-old Colon man is in custody after breaking into a residence in the 28000 block of Pleasant Road in Mendon Tuesday.

Deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department caught the man breaking into the home where he allegedly sampled a beer from the fridge and turned on the homeowner’s TV in the process of stealing two firearms and other miscellaneous items.

The man faces multiple felony charges including home invasion in the first degree, larceny in a building, felony firearms and larceny of firearms.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police.
