Park Township Special Meeting Tonight Now Virtual Only

A special meeting of the Park Township Planning Commission scheduled for this evening will now take place entirely online. On the township’s website, an announcement states that due to a pandemic-related health order issued last Sunday by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, the meeting will take place using the Zoom online meeting platform. The announcement, which is linked here, includes information on how to participate.

The meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m., was originally going to take place in person at the township hall in Parkville, with additional viewing and attendance measures available online. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a public hearing regarding an application the Planning Commission has received to have a parcel of land along M-60 rezoned. The parcel is a short distance north of Norht Fisher Lake Road. Rezoning the parcel would permit the Nottawa Gas Company to relocate its retail, storage, and distribution facility from its current site, which it leases from another owner.

Tonight’s special hearing is the first step in the rezoning process, and will likely result in a recommendation either to permit or deny the rezoning. The application is also subject to review at the county level, and final approval must come from the Park Township Board of Trustees.
