Theme announced for 65th annual Three Rivers Water Festival

As freezing temperatures continue to envelop the Three Rivers area, a group of hardworking volunteers has already begun to plan the 2022 65th annual Three Rivers Water Festival.

The annual event, considered by many to be the unofficial start of the summer season in Three Rivers, will run from noon Thursday, June 16, through Saturday evening, June 18. An additional event, the Soap Box Derby, will return on Sunday, June 19. Water Festival promises to feature many familiar favorites, with the return of several exciting family-oriented activities that were omitted from last year’s abbreviated event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

After considering several options, Water Festival Committee members selected the theme for this year’s event: “The Roaring Twenties.” Committee members felt that the theme is familiar to most, which would allow the participants in the parade to come up with some creative entries. They hope that the community enjoys this year’s theme and comes out to celebrate this year’s Water Festival.

Planners promise to take precautions to keep vendors, participants, and attendees safe by altering the formats of some of the activities. They ask for everyone’s patience and understanding in adjusting to these precautions.

The Water Festival will feature many returning favorites, including the annual kick-off parade, Kids Zone, the popular Car Show, a 5K/1 mile fun run, the Arts and Crafts Show in Scidmore Park, food vendors, a concert followed by the popular fireworks display, and many more crowd pleasers.

Area residents are encouraged to watch for more details about this annual event as the Festival approaches. Continuing updates are available at the Three Rivers Water Festival Facebook page, as well as at www.trchamber.com.
