Obituary: Emmasayge Thomas

Emmasayge Thomas

Note: A St. Joseph County resident and family friend of Emmasayge Thomas requested that Watershed Voice publish this obituary, and made a donation in Emmasayge’s memory.

The world lost an incredibly bright light in December, when our darling sprite Emmasayge took her own life. She was an empathetic, wise, and beautiful soul…so very strong, sensitive, loving, honest & kind. Her wisdom was surpassed only by her humor, and her laugh was joyful & infectious.

Sayge cared deeply for others and had a special affinity for sharks & all furry creatures. She was an accomplished swimmer, climber, photographer, writer, mathematician, and martial artist. She excelled in everything she set her mind to, and had high expectations of herself and those around her.

Playing lacrosse was her most recent endeavor — she enjoyed the challenge of learning new skills and treasured her teammates & coach on the Fairview JV2 squad. Her trip to the Bahamas for hurricane relief work with Chris Lagedrost & Molly Martin from the Ascent youth group was a true highlight of her life. She loved her friends & pets immensely and her presence in this life will be missed beyond measure.

Emmasayge is survived & deeply missed by her parents, Lisa & Tommy Thomas; grandmother Marcia Schultz; Aunts & Uncles Sarah & Doug Greenholz, Scott & Marianne Schultz, Marshall Lee, Chris & Kristen Thomas, Peter Thomas, Catherine Thomas, Martha & Dennis Chaman, Ann & Nick Coogan, and Becky & Tracy Whitsell; numerous cousins including Kirsten Lee, Lisa, Sarah, Matt & Zach Thomas, Brendan & Leah Hunt, Megan & Shawn Thomas, Elizabeth & Jason Thomas, Jane, Sam & David Chaman, Tommy, Daniel & Molly Coogan, and Natalie & Jacob Whitsell; best friends Brianna Locks, Vivienne Peyton, Madeline Saltarelli and their families; pets Midnight, Jack, Charlie, Sunny & Tallie; favorite stuffy Hobbes, and so many more family members, friends, classmates & teachers. Sayge was preceded in death by her Grandparents Stephen Schultz, and William & Maitland “Mickey” Thomas.

A service to celebrate her life will be held in the spring at Ascent Community Church in Louisville, CO. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the following organizations: Mental Health Partners of Colorado, Boulder County Wildfire Relief Fund, or Longmont Humane Society.

Our love for you is infinite, dear Emmasayge. May you be relieved of the weight of this world and rest in peace. Your beautiful spirit will always be with us — in everyone who’s been touched by your powerfully bright light.
