‘Gilligan’s Island: The Musical’ to open Friday at Nora Hagen Theatre

“Gilligan’s Island: The Musical,” based on the popular 1960s TV show comedy featuring seven shipwrecked castaways, will be performed in the Glen Oaks Nora Hagen Theatre May 13-15. The show is presented by the Sturgis Civic Players, in partnership with Glen Oaks Community College in three performances, Fri., May 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Sat., May 14 at 7:30 p.m.; and Sun., May 15 at 2 p.m.

The show is co-directed by Michele Kelley, of Sturgis, and Mary Sutter, of White Pigeon. The cast includes local talents: Kenton Kelley as the Skipper; Colin Eastman as Gilligan; Amanda Camburn as Mary Ann; Laura Kemp as Ginger; Ryan Davis as the Professor, Uriah Geroux and Michelle Klar as Thurston Howell III and his wife, Lovey Howell; and Hannah Heitger and Ana Miller guest starring as Aliens.

“We were well into practices and staging for this show when the pandemic hit in March of 2020,” co-director Michele Kelley said. “We tried a second time last fall and had to cancel last minute due to a COVID spike, so we are thinking the third time will be a charm. Although some of the character roles have changed over the course of the past two years, we are excited to bring you a great show with a highly seasoned cast as many of the performers have appeared in numerous musicals in the area over the years.”

General admission tickets for the public are $12 each and can be pre-ordered at: Sturgisboxoffice.com or by calling the Box Office at Sturges-Young Center for the Arts at (269) 651-8541, or they may be purchased at the door on the day of performance, based on availability.
