World Suicide Prevention Day, observed Tuesday, September 10, is dedicated to reminding the public about looking out for one another.
The day promotes awareness about the importance of suicide prevention and helping someone who is struggling with suicidal thoughts or mental health challenges.
“World Suicide Prevention Day serves as a reminder that everyone can contribute to creating a safer, more supportive community,” according to the Michigan State Police. “It is important to learn the warning signs of suicide and to have open conversations about emotions and mental health. “
It is also important to know how to help others connect with help. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat 988lifeline.org.
