Three Rivers High School
Three Rivers High School’s Class of 1964 nearly tripled its initial fundraising goal for Three Rivers Promise, raising $1,925 for future graduates of Three Rivers High School.
As a part of this summer’s reunions, the Three Rivers High School Class of 1964 is having a birthday party on July 31 as they celebrate their respective 75th birthdays this year. As part of that celebration, the group hopes to donate at least $600 to the Three Rivers Promise.
The Three Rivers High School Class of 2021 celebrated their upcoming graduation with a parade on Tuesday, May 25.
WSV’s Steph Hightree writes, “As another school year comes to an end, I think of the Vitamin C ‘Graduation’ song and am instantly brought back to my senior year. Although I don’t have a graduating senior this year, I do have an 8th grader who will be transitioning to high school, and I’m kind of freaking out.”
The Three Rivers Promise (TRP) Board announced a public campaign Monday to fund an endowment to support graduates of Three Rivers High School in furthering their education. The goal of the Promise is to provide every graduate of Three Rivers High School with a scholarship toward tuition and mandatory fees for post-secondary education at Michigan public colleges and vocational schools.
At a regular Board of Education (BOE) meeting Monday evening, Three Rivers Community Schools (TRCS) principals and administrators discussed current performance amid ongoing pandemic measures. Through a series of presentations led by TRCS Curriculum Director Nikki Nash, principals from each of the TRCS buildings discussed where current performance measurements stand among students, and what measures they are taking to improve student engagement and results.
In response to a directive by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Three Rivers Community Schools announced it will be closing Three Rivers High School and Three Rivers Middle School starting this Wednesday and continuing through December 8. In a Monday press release, TRCS Superintendent Ron Moag said school will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, November 17, to allow teachers and staff time to prepare for a transition. Virtual instruction for students affected by the closure will commence Wednesday.
In a pair of press releases issued Monday, Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC) announced that applications are open for several scholarships. They include the 2020-21 Presidential and Dean Scholarships as well as scholarships from the Glen Oaks Community College Foundation. Specific eligibility requirements apply to some of the scholarships.
The Three Rivers Wildcat Marching Band is winning competitions. Last Saturday, September 26, the band placed first at the Otsego Band Invitational. The Wildcats also earned the award for Best Music. Three Rivers Community Schools’ Director of
John Rivers has made innovations which have brought him fortune, occasional notoriety, and opportunities to see the world. In the last four years, he has brought his capacity for new ideas into downtown Three Rivers with his restaurant, Venue 45.
Capitalizing on a trend featuring drive-in events as a pandemic measure, Project Graduation plans to offer drive-in, giant screen viewing of the Three Rivers High School Homecoming football game on Friday, October 2.
Much work at The Huss Project has been occurring under the hands and guidance of two new onsite caretakers, the husband-and-wife pair of Margaret Wenger and Dan Truesdale.
Three Rivers Community Schools voted Monday to hire Cheryl Thomas as the new director for the Three Rivers Middle School and High School bands. Watershed Voice reached out to Thomas to learn more about the background and skills she will bring to Three Rivers.
The Three Rivers High School Class of 2020 was honored with a 93-car commencement parade Friday as part of the school’s Senior Salute. The event, originally scheduled for Thursday, May 28, was postponed and rescheduled for Friday due to weather, but the extra wait did not put a damper on the day’s festivities.

Abiel Fellows Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution has announced the area’s DAR Good Citizens for 2020. Each member of the senior class is selected by their respective school for exemplifying the qualities of “Dependability, Service, Leadership, and Patriotism.”
