Sturgis Mayor Frank Perez announced he’ll run against incumbent Rep. Steve Carra (R-Three Rivers) for the 36th District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives. Perez, Carra, and Michael Malmborg of Colon will face off in the Republican primary in August. Erin Schultes of Three Rivers is currently running unopposed on the Democratic side.

Lucas Allen will be the next at-large Three Rivers city commissioner after receiving 73 percent of the ballots cast, collecting 1,128 votes against the 401 write-in votes tallied against him, defeating write-in candidate Danielle Moreland in Tuesday’s general election.
Watershed Voice sent out questionnaires to local candidates running for Three Rivers City Commission, St. Joseph County Commission, Three Rivers Board of Education, and Glen Oaks Community College Board of Trustees. In the days leading up to the election on Tuesday, November 8, Watershed will publish the questionnaires in the order they are received.
