Longtime Three Rivers city attorney to be honored Tuesday

J. Patrick O'Malley

Reception at Three Rivers Chamber open to the public

City Attorney J. Patrick O’Malley will be honored at a reception prior to the Three Rivers City Commission meeting Tuesday, both of which will take place at the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce building (1116 N. Main St.)

The reception will begin at 5 p.m. and conclude before the commission meeting at 6. The event will include light refreshments and live music from local guitarist Kevin Olney.

O’Malley has served the City of Three Rivers for nearly 50 years (48 to be exact), and is set to retire at year’s end. Assistant City Attorney TJ Reed was named O’Malley’s successor by the city commission in November.

Former St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough and attorney Luke Nofsinger also vied for the post, joining Reed in making their respective cases as to why they would be the best fit. Ultimately commissioners voted unanimously in favor of Reed with O’Malley’s blessing.
