Gateway Village Apartments of Sturgis was recently awarded a micro grant from the Sturgis Area Community Foundation to help fund the Fresh Food Distribution program in collaboration with the South Michigan Food Bank.

The grant will enable Gateway Village Apartments to continue supplying fresh food to those in need throughout the community. The Fresh Food Distribution program is a collaborative effort with the South Michigan Food Bank, aimed at ensuring local families have access to essential food resources.

“We are deeply grateful to the Sturgis Area Community Foundation for their support of our mission to combat food insecurity in our community,” said Cindi Pennington, Property Manager of Gateway Village Apartments Sturgis. “This grant will allow us to continue our Fresh Food Distribution program, ensuring that families have access to fresh, healthy, and locally sourced food.”

The Fresh Food Distribution Program at Gateway Village Apartments plays a significant role in addressing the nutritional needs of local residents, particularly during challenging times. The program not only supplies essential food items but also promotes community engagement and a sense of togetherness.

The Sturgis Area Community Foundation grant will be instrumental in continuing this program, according to Gateway representatives, enabling the organization to purchase and distribute a wide variety of fresh foods, including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and proteins each month.

“We are proud to support the valuable work of Gateway Village Apartments and the South Michigan Food Bank in their efforts to alleviate hunger and improve the well-being of our community members,” said Anna Brand, Program Manager at the Sturgis Area Community Foundation. “We believe that access to nutritious food is a fundamental right, and this grant reflects our commitment to ensuring that everyone in Sturgis has the opportunity supplement their food resources.”

Administrators and staff of Gateway Village Apartments express their gratitude to the Sturgis Area Community Foundation for their “generosity and unwavering commitment to improving the lives of local residents. This grant will have a lasting impact on the well-being of our community.”
