Consider local, nonprofit journalism this #GivingTuesday

Since Watershed Voice launched in April 2020 we’ve aimed to be of service to this community, a community we work hard to celebrate, uplift, and make better through our work. In the lean years that were 2021 and 2022 our staff worked for little to no money because we believed in the mission, and that ultimately St. Joseph, Cass, and Kalamazoo County would see that commitment and support us in kind.

It’s #GivingTuesday (or what we prefer to call #GivingNewsDay), which is built on the idea of radical generosity following the splurging of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This day is all about helping our community, showing up for issues that matter, and acknowledging our shared humanity.

For the better part of four years we have served as a reputable source for local news and culture because we believe when citizens are informed on local issues they are more likely to be active members in their community. We work in direct contact with people affected by problems, and aim to listen and respond to our readers’ priorities and questions. We seek to highlight solutions to this area’s pressing concerns, in an effort to make our community a better place.

These efforts have resulted in three national award nominations and two wins over the last two years, and we want to capitalize on this momentum to grow and sustain this important work.

We believe in the generosity and kindness of this community, and we’re hoping you’ll join in with a contribution. As an added bonus, thanks to NewsMatch, all gifts up to $13,000 are being matched dollar for dollar. Want to set up a monthly donation? NewsMatch will match it TWELVE times!

This is the moment to give. Can we count on your support?
