Crash on M-60 injures Cassopolis teen

Two teens involved in Cass County crash

Two teenagers were involved in a car crash Saturday afternoon near the intersection of M-60 and Shore Acres Road in Penn Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of a vehicle, identified by deputies as Skyler Szczepanski, 18, of Gobles, was travelling eastbound on M-60 when he failed to stop in an assured clear distance and rear-ended a vehicle driven by Savannah Watson, 18, of Cassopolis, who was trying to turn left into a private business.

Watson was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries she received in the crash, while Szczepanski was not injured.

The sheriff’s office said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, and all parties wore seatbelts.

Central Cass Fire Department, Penn Township Fire Department, SMCAS Ambulance and Cassopolis Police Department assisted deputies at the scene.
