UPDATE: Police identify motorized wheelchair rider who was struck and killed by SUV in Three Rivers

The Three Rivers Police have identified 49-year-old Tony Hoyt of Three Rivers as the man who was struck and killed by an SUV while riding his motorized wheelchair near Millard and Erie Streets on Monday. Authorities say they are currently awaiting results from the post mortem examination and the accident investigator’s report before making any other determinations related to the crash.

A Three Rivers wheelchair rider died Monday after they were struck by an SUV near Millard and Erie Streets in Three Rivers.

Officers from the Three Rivers Police Department were dispatched to the scene for an SUV vs. motorized wheelchair crash. The rider was transported to Three Rivers Health and then to Kalamazoo but later succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the name of the wheelchair rider is being withheld pending notification of family.

An accident investigator from the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.
