Celebrate the St. Joseph River this weekend at Covered Bridge Farm

The St. Joseph County Conservation District in conjunction with St. Joseph County Parks & Recreation are celebrating the St. Joseph River this weekend at Covered Bridge Farm.

PBS is premiering the official documentary on the history of the St. Joseph River at Covered Bridge Farm County Park, located at 56705 Covered Bridge Rd. in Three Rivers, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, August 28. Admission is free but donations are encouraged as proceeds from the event will benefit both the Parks Department as well as the Conservation District.

Folks can watch the film with their choice of burgers, brats, chips, and a cold beverage, and once the film has concluded there will be live music. The event will also feature outdoor games like corn hole and a bounce house for kids.

Conservation District Program Director Shaun Grace said this weekend’s celebration aims to raise awareness (and funds) for the plethora of environmental projects underway in St. Joseph County.

“The event this weekend aims to highlight what an amazing county we really have,” Grace said. “It also aims to raise awareness of just how many environmental projects are taking place right here in our community. The St Joseph County Parks Department and the Conservation District have a lot more projects that we will continue with in an effort to preserve and expand the positive impact we all have in our beautiful environment here in Michigan.”
