Artists to ‘Paint Out the Town’ Saturday in downtown Three Rivers

The Three Rivers Artist Guild is set to host “Paint Out the Town” in downtown Three Rivers on Saturday, July 29. A friendly, quick-draw, “plein air” competition, the event allows artists to originate, paint, complete, and frame a piece of art created outdoors in a three-hour time period in one day.

First place winner from Paint Out the Town 2021, Cindy Awrey.

Artist Guild President Lisa Devine told Watershed Voice registration for participants may be done online at the Guild’s website, or at the start of the event between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The entry fee for those wishing to participate is $25. Artists must bring their own canvas, paper, and other art supplies, and paintings will be completed in the Three Rivers downtown area and surrounding parks.

There will be a juried competition with cash prizes for first, second, and third place, and judging will be done between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. The prize for first place is $200, second place is $100, and third place is $50. The finished works will be displayed from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., and artists may choose to sell their paintings at that time. Unsold paintings will be displayed in the window at 30 N. Main St. until the beginning of September.

Members from the Artist Guild will also be displaying and selling their artwork at the Scidmore Park Farmer’s Market pavilion from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
