Books becomes 11th certified first responder counselor in Michigan

The Three Rivers Police Department (TRPD) announced Wednesday tha Bryann Books recently became the 11th Certified First Responder Counselor in the State of Michigan.

The certification program requires rigorous coursework and a final examination. It is designed to provide mental health clinicians with the tools they need to effectively support first responders, with empathy, cultural competence, leadership, and more.

The program draws on extensive experience from officers, first responders, and counselors working in varying environments.

According to the TRPD, Books is now one of the most equipped counselors working in the state of Michigan, equipped with the skills and knowledge to provide effective support to first responders in the field and around the station.

Books, a fully licensed Master’s Level social worker who has been practicing for nearly five years, has been with Three Rivers since the summer of 2023.
