Sturgis hosting styrofoam recycling event Saturday

The City of Sturgis will have styrofoam recycling this Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Compost Site at 27751 E. Fawn River Rd.

The site will accept clean, used polystyrene foam, including post-consumer foam cups and “to-go” containers, egg cartons, ice chests, rinsed meat trays, protective packing foam (frequently used to protect electronics during shipping), and other foam with the #6 inside the chasing arrows triangle.

The city is also looking for volunteers to help out at the event. If you’re interested, and are available from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m., you can contact Julie Burkey at 269-659-7223 or [email protected].

If you can’t make it to the event on June 8, there will be two more styrofoam recycling events in Sturgis on August 10, and Saturday, November 2.
