Police respond to shooting, stabbing incidents in Three Rivers

Several hours before daybreak this morning, officers from the Three Rivers Police Department (TRPD) were dispatched to a location in the 1200 block of Lockport Drive following a report of gunshots in the area.

According to a TRPD press release, the officers arrived at an apartment where they found evidence that the building had been shot at several times. The apartment’s residents were not harmed. Officers collected evidence at the scene with the assistance of the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office. TRPD says that an investigation is ongoing. Anyone with evidence or information on the shooting should call TRPD at 269-278-1235 or St. Joseph County Central Dispatch at 269-467-4195.

Stabbing on Ninth Street

Just over 24 hours prior to the shooting, TRPD officers received a dispatch call over an open 911 call in which a male subject said “he had lost a lot of blood,” at approximately 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

Arriving at a location in the 400 block of Ninth Street, the officers found blood on the ground and a female subject they described as “uncooperative.” After securing the residence and while obtaining a search warrant, officers located the male victim at the Emergency Room at Three Rivers Hospital with stab wounds. Once the search warrant became effective, officers located the knife used in the stabbing inside the residence.

The 21-year-old female subject was arrested and lodged at the St. Joseph County Jail on a felonious assault charge. Officers contacted Child Protective Services for three minors who were present at the residence where the incident occurred.
