A Glen Oaks Community College student has won a logo design contest to rebrand the St. Joseph County Adult Education program as it transitions into a consortium. Junior Jalisa Pope of Three Rivers was awarded a t-shirt and a $100 gift card for her creative design.

The logo design contest was initiated by MiChelle DeVries, Sturgis Site Administrator/St. Joseph County Navigator, as a way to promote the newly formed consortium. She tasked Ciera Kline, graphic design faculty at Glen Oaks Community College, and her students with creating a brand identity that would reflect the diversity of the consortium.

“It was very important to me to offer the opportunity to partner with Glen Oaks Community College and their CTE (Career and Technical Education) program as a way to highlight the incredible talent we’ve got right here in our district,” DeVries said. “All of the designs submitted were amazing; picking just one was tough! But in the end, Jalisa’s design was exactly what we were looking for.”

Pope’s design features a compass, symbolizing guidance and direction for adult learners. Her logo was selected for its creative embodiment of the program’s goals and will be prominently featured on the St. Joseph County Adult Education website and marketing materials.
