Glen Oaks Community College is inviting members of the community to participate in one of three open forums on Tuesday, December 12, to assist in the development of a presidential profile as part the process to select the college’s ninth president

Glen Oaks President David Devier laments about the loss of “shop” classes in Michigan middle and high schools. He argues the only way to “undo these detrimental decisions in local school districts is to enact new curricula that bring back hands-on experiences.”
Dr. David Devier previously announced he would retire effective June 30, 2024, after serving as the college president since January 2014.
The works of Susan Teague of Kalamazoo is on exhibit at the Flora Kirsch Beck Art Gallery on the campus of Glen Oaks Community College through December 15. The soft opening of the show began on November 1 with a formal opening reception to be held on November 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The state program, which has provided free in-district tuition for students ages 25 and older without an associate or bachelor’s degree, has been in place since 2021, and is now temporarily expanded to include students ages 21-24.

The 100% pass rate was achieved on the graduates’ first attempt with the NCLEX exam and is higher than the passing rates for both the state (78.97%), and the nation (79.91%) based on 2022 data. An 80 percent pass rate is required for the program to maintain accreditation.

Glen Oaks Community College will hold its 55th Annual Commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5, in Ken Schuler Court (Glen Oaks gymnasium). The Health Sciences Pinning ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 6 at 10 a.m. in Ken Schuler Court for nursing and allied health students.
