Man injured after being struck by two vehicles in Three Rivers

A 39-year-old man was taken to the hospital Wednesday after he was struck by two vehicles on U.S. Highway 131 near Wilbur Road in Three Rivers.

Deputies responded to a report of a car vs. pedestrian crash on Wednesday, April 10 around 5:38 a.m. near the north junction. Authorities interviewed drivers of two separate vehicles who hit the man on the southbound lane of U.S. 131. One driver indicated the pedestrian jumped in front of his vehicle but that claim has not yet been confirmed by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

The pedestrian sustained injuries in the crash but was conscious and alert when he was transported to Kalamazoo for further treatment. No one else was hurt in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Three Rivers Police Department and the Three Rivers and Fabius Township fire departments.
