Man killed in apparent Cass County hit-and-run

Body found on U.S. 12 near Mason Street

A man was reportedly killed in a hit-and-run crash early Monday morning on U.S. 12 in Cass County.

Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene at 6:27 a.m. this morning, Monday, June 3, with a report of a body on the side of the road. The caller said they believed the person had been hit by a car. When emergency personnel arrived, they found the deceased in the grass along U.S. 12 west of Mason Street, a road in Porter Township.

The man’s name is being withheld until family can be notified. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information about the crash to contact 269-445-8644 or a Cass County tip line at 800-462-9328.

Assisting deputies on scene were the Michigan State Police, SEPSA Ambulance, and Porter Township Fire Department.
